Hi Friends!
Now that things are slowly getting back to "normal", my brother, friend and I decided to have a little adventure day with a road trip to Squamish! It's about an hour and a half from our places, so we started off our morning with a stop at Starbucks (of course) to fuel us up for our day! I'm always so excited to head west because the view from the Sea to Sky Highway is STUNNING, especially during the summer months. The snow from the mountains has melted and the water is this beautiful green hue while glistening in front of the mountains. If you're ever in Vancouver, you MUST drive the Sea to Sky!
Our first stop was Fergie's Cafe, a local brunch spot that I've heard soo many great things about. The vibes and atmosphere of this spot is amazing! Tucked away in the forest, the architecture of the building is stunning, with tons of wooden features, trees and cool little blue and green touches. We put our names down, and unfortunately had to wait over an hour. The one pro to the wait was that we had time to check out the Cheekey River, which was right next to Fergie's. The River was this beautiful light green/blue, and of course - we had to grab a ton of photos! Fun fact - Virgin River is actually filmed in Squamish, a few minutes from this spot, in Brackendale. Once we finally got our seat at Fergie's, the three of us ordered the Eggs Benny. We got the Bacon Benny and my brother got the pulled pork. We were so starving that we chowed down in minutes. The Benny was tasty and flavourful, but I still have my other favourites in Van. The Potatoes taste just like bbq chips and were a nice addition!
After Fergie's we headed on a little drive to Fox & Oak, a cute little cafe I had seen on instagram (of course), and I grabbed an iced vanilla latte and some triple chocolate cookies. They're known for their donuts (which my brother grabbed), and the amazing view of the Squamish Chief! This was a super cute spot and I'm so glad we got to quickly stop by.
Our last stop on this little road trip was their local brewery, Backcountry Brewing! The moment we walked inside, it felt like we were in a cute little cabin. The woodsy theme had me hooked, as well as the Mean Girls themed beer names. "On Wednesdays we wear pink" and "Get in loser, we're going shopping", I MEAN! All three of us grabbed a flight of their four sours that were on tap, and I've gotta say - this was one of the best flights I have ever had. They were all super juicy, fruity and flavourful! They've got a great selection and a cozy interior! The flights came in at $10, which was a decent price for the quality beer. I highly recommend this spot if you love a good brewery!
We headed home on our hour and a half journey, but unfortunately there was a TON of traffic. It took us nearly 3 hours to get back home, but it did help to have those Sea to Sky views for the duration of the drive. I'm also a permanent passenger (lol), so I don't have the frustration of being the driver in traffic.
Squamish was a super fun little getaway and has so many great little hidden gems, to all my Vancouverites, its definitely worth the drive - even if it took 3 hours to get home!
