Hey everyone,
I've been a little MIA in the blogosphere. In all honesty, I lost my camera charger, my battery was out, and I couldn't upload any of my recent photos. There was a little bit of procrastination, but just last week I finally found my charger, hidden in my suitcase (from my trip to California in July) .... So here I am, ready to get back into this. I am going to make blogging one of my many goals for 2018. Happy 2018, and I hope you guys enjoy this post.
As many of you know, I recently moved out of my parents place, and have found a cute little place of my own in Port Moody. I have fallen in love with this area, at times it almost feels like I'm in a vacation town. There are so many cute small businesses and restaurants that I have been checking out over the past couple of months, one of which is Gabi & Jules.
Back in October, my great uncle came to visit all the way from Holland. While showing him around Port Moody, my mom and I were so excited to take him to Gabi & Jules, the cutest little pie and coffee shop on Clarke Street. They bake the most amazing fresh pies in house, and serve my personal favourite coffee beans ; 49th Parallel coffee roasters. I got a chance to try the strawberry ginger peach pie, and boy was it delish! With a dollop of vanilla ice cream, these pies are perfection.
As most of you know, you know I absolutely love coffee. More specifically, going for coffee. With friends, family or even by myself, There is nothing better than sipping on a latte and spending time in a cute little cafe.
I think it's so important to take a moment to slow down, enjoy the company and just relax. As North Americans, we are always on the go, and busy. Most of us are stressed and thinking about what's next on our to do list.
Back in October, when I was there with my Mom and Uncle, we were chatting and laughing for about an hour, talking about traveling, our days, and just about anything. Just as my mom and I were ready to go, my uncle turned to us and went "Can't we stay for another hour". And that's what I admire about my uncle Arie. He lives such a relaxed and fulfilling life. Whenever he comes to visit us from across the world, he loves to sit down and just chat and relax. He finds joy in the simplicity of a coffee with friends or family. Treasuring time and people, his lifestyle is the opposite of us. I hope that we can adopt the European outlook on life and just slow down, and enjoy our daily cup of coffee.
